No fail yummy treats

Making your own training treats is well worth the effort. You can make sure they are healthy, tailor them to your own dogs preference and keep things nice an interesting for them. Not to mention a great chance to use up leftovers!

What you will need

  • a blender or food processor of your choice

  • a mould for the treats (large online retailers see lots of silicone ones that suit)

Ingredients

  • 2 tins of mackerel or tuna (avoid the ones in brine for salt content)

  • leftover broccoli and stalks, lightly cooked so the will blend

  • good handful of spinach

  • 1 egg

  • 2/3 tablespoons of a flour of your choice

  • water

To make

  • blend ingredients adding enough water as needed to make a thick paste

  • spread into your chosen mould

  • microwave for between 4 to 5 minutes (adjust to get consistency of your choice)

The best thing about this method is you can change up the ingredients to use your dogs favourite proteins, veg and flavours. You can also lose the flour altogether if you want, I use coconut flour as I try to keep things as grain free as possible for Elvis. It usually takes me about 20 minutes from start to finish and they cost very little, especially if you use leftover of your own family veg.

Go enjoy cooking up some healthy training treats perfect for fun games and relationship building with your dog!
